My dealer tells me BMW is closed on May 26, 27 for holiday so there is no ED available. I was wondering what holiday it is and how it may affect travel in the area. Not sure if I should schedule deliver for before or after those dates. I know the European (German) Formula GP is that weekend. Any feedback from others taking ED at the end of May is appreciated.

Thursday May 26 2005 Corpus Christi Day (Fronleichnam)
Observed in: Baden-Wuerttemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland
(10 days after Whitsuntide, a Thursday, and Whitsuntide is 7 weeks after Easter Monday)
I believe just about all shops and banks are closed on that day.

My most strenuous advice to you would be to avoid at all costs holiday weekends in Germany. As you already know, just about everything closes down. There is absolutely nothing going on. It's rather boring. And, it seems, ever german car is on the Autobahn going somewhere. You can just about count on significant traffic jams.
My advice would be to get there a day or two early and escape to neutral territory as quickly as possible.

I'll be there for the Easter weekend. March 25 is Good Friday, also a holiday and stuff is closed. I pick my car up on March 23. If you make prior arrangements with Harms for drop-off, you can leave the car on a Sunday and take off. A friend of mine and me are doing just that. We are getting our paperwork for drop off done right after delivery so we'll be all set to fly back to the states on Easter Sunday.

They will definitely be closed may 26th and 27th. The 26th is corpus christi, and the 27th seems like its a great way to make a four day weekend out of it . If you plan on dropping off in another country, be sure to check that its not a holiday on your planned drop off day. Dropping off in Munich on a weekend is a possibility, but you will need to contact them and set it up before hand. I think that there is a minimal charge to it too (75 or 100 euros)

The Germans (Europeans) have a lot of holidays and you should always check that out in advance. The European GP is the 29th which is at Nurburgring.....won't affect traffic in Munich too much! So pick the car up early and go to the GP! Everything will be closed except bars and restaurants, the only day they close is New Year's Eve...honest.
