I'm filling out all the paperwork now and DMV form is dated as of today...since the car won't hit the ground in California until mid-May at the earliest, I'm wondering when the registration starts? In some states it may not be a big deal, but here in California, the registration costs about $35/month.
Anyone had success in dating the DMV form for when they will receive the car in the US?

In 2001, my euro didn't register until I picked up the car at Glendale. Might be diff since the 545i we're picking up is a lease. Better check with Franco.

In WA my registration started when the car was re-delivered.
Don't know if it matters but also I did not pay the sales tax and registration till the car was re-delivered. I figured why let the dealer sit on that money for the 90 days from paying for the carim March till It was on US roads in June.

your registration should not me submitted until the car arrives at the dealership. they have to certify the mileage on the DMV transfer form and cannot do so if they can't see the car.

Not sure why they included the DMV form in my package with 10 miles listed for ODO and today listed as date of sale.
But glad I'm not paying any more money to the government than necessary

Ok, heard from my salesman today. He said they don't start the registration until I pick up the car in California.
