 No free maintenance?

My wife took our '05 545i (bought via ED in October '04) in to the local BMW dealership today to get the DME upgrade to fix the hesitation problem and to fix the Nav DVD (it works intermittantly). While there a service advisor told her that the 4 year free maintenance didn't apply to ED vehicles. The service advisor also said that the BMW computer classified our car as a Canadian vehicle because it was shipped from Munich to Canada and then to New Jersey. Something like that.

What the #$%????

Was your car acquired through a US dealer via European Delivery? It wasn't a Canadian car or an imported car, was it? If it was a normal US-spec car sold via ED, then you will have the Full Maintenance like any other car.

I've done a couple of ED's and the Warranty work, Service, etc. has been exactly the same is if I walked into the local BMW Center and bought a car from stock.

Whats the last 7 of the VIN?

Yep. This was a normal ED. The car was purchased through a dealer in NY and was delivered to them from Munich where we picked it up. Nothing out of the ordinary. We did ED 5 years ago on a 328i, but maintenance wasn't included then so I'm not sure about the exact benefits. I guess I should read the warranty book.
