 Hotel reservations in May

Ok, I've got the 330i on order for May 3rd. My soon to be wife and I are picking it up and then spending a month driving around Europe for our Honeymoon. We'll be heading towards Venice for a few days of decompression, then through the south of France, up the west coast, over to Belgium and ending in Paris.

My question is, aside from apartment reservations in major cities, does anyone have any opinions on wether we'll need reservations, or can we just wing it?

Thanks!

I have winged a European Trip in the past, and it may work out great now, but there's really no need to do that anymore since there's so much information online to help plan your trip. Munich seems to be pretty full on or around May 3rd. (I'll be doing a pickup that day as well). Also, you probably already know that European Delivery now only covers insurance for 14 days and you'll have to pay for any additional.

I've "winged" eight trips to Europe. Generally I only get the first night or two booked in advance and then I'm off. I usually know a few major destinations, then it will be all winging it in between. Like this coming trip, I know I want to get to the Lakes area. So will that be Como, Lugano, Lago di Garda, etc... not sure yet... and we may get to one, and want to move on... so I like winging it.

My last ED pickup date was May 2, and I winged most of a 1 month trip and 4500 miles. So, I think it can easily be done. Then you are not forced into some itinerary should something interesting come up.

What led you to this conclusion? Do I need to get my reservation already? Perhaps we can get a drink on May 2 if my wife has not already moved us out of Munich. Our pickup is early that morning.
Thanks for your help.

I am picking up a 545 on May 2nd. The week before, from April 24th to April 29th is about the busiest week of the year in Munich (a huge conference), except for Oktoberfest perhaps; hotels are barely reservable and extremely expensive. I arrive on the 30th, and got a good weekend rate at Le Meridien.

As for winging it, May is a good month to do so, somewhat busy, but not overly crowded in most places. There may be a few special locations and/or hotels that you should pre-book to be safe.

Have a great trip!
