 Just Got Home....

around 4 this morning from Europe. Went to Munich on the 9th to get the 645Ci and had a great trip. Flew all night and landed at around 11 am and went straight to the Delivery Center to get the car. Took about 1.5 hours and they were very helpful at the center. Next we went over to Harms to fill out the paperwork in case of a late return. Herr Bernst was fantastic to deal with! Left from there and drove to Innsbruck for the night. A very nice drive and very do-able in a long day if you want to fly in get your car and leave Germany in the same day. From Innsbruck we spent 3 days in Venice, 2 days in Modena, Maranello and Parma. Had to go to Ferrari while we were there. Next we went to Lake Como for 3 days and on Friday we drove thru the Swill Alps back to Munich to drop off the car. The Alps are gorgeous. The roads were fine and it was sunny and 4 degrees (F). The weather for the rest of the trip was great....it was in the 40-50's and actually hit 60 one day. No rain or snow until we got to Munich on Friday.
Put about 1200 miles on the car and really enjoyed the roads. I ignored the speed limits for the entire trip and got over 150 quite often. The 645 drew as much attention as my Viper did in the US when it first came out 10 years ago. I saw no other 645's during the entire trip and that includes at the delivery center. Even the staff there had to come out to look the car over. The car feels giant in Europe. I didn't think it would make it thru some of the roads especially when big trucks are comming the opposite way. They don't even slow down!
I had a great time and will definately do it again.....we got lot's of great advice from this forum and the best thing we did was borrow the DVD disc from Bewang.....the nav system made driving easy and let me focus on the car and the drive and not the map or directions.
The trip was expensive....the dollar is very weak and prices are high. Be prepared for the sticker shock.
Thanks to everyone for the information and holding my hand thru the process....especially Bernard.
If someone can tell me how, I can post some pictures if you are interested.

Welcome back SRT Viper. You were lucky to not have the weather as bad as the others experienced. If the delivery center was in awe, imagine the faces turning when the car comes in here.

Glad to be back in *ahem* sunny california?! You missed more rainstorms of biblical proportions over the past 48 hours. I, too, call HB home. Come to think of it, there's a guy that owns a black Viper just a few places down from mine; parks his Viper in the alley behind the houses...maybe we're neighbors! HA! Probably not, but you never know... If I see a swet new 6er I'll know it's true!

I leave for Munich on the 16th and can't wait. I'm getting a nav disk from the dealer here which should make the trip all the more enjoyable focusing my attention on the beautiful scenery instead of maps. BTW, how long did it take at Harms when dropping the car off or filling out all the paperwork you did right afer taking delivery? Cheers!

Sounds like you had a great trip.

I can only begin to imagine how gigantic your car must have felt in Italy. Driving my 330i in Italy was bad enough and I did not even attempt to park it in the cities. It seems like all parking spaces were sized for Ford Focus sized cars or smaller.

We would love to see pictures. You can upload them by attaching them to a post. Look below the post (message area) and you will see Additional Options. There is an area that says Atach files with a Manage Attachments button. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

It took about 30 minutes to get to Harms and another 30 to do the paperwork. I took my time so it can probably be done quicker.

No.....Not neighbors....I live down by the Bolsa Chica wetlands and have a red Viper.

I tried uploading pictures by my files are too large. How can I make them smaller?
