Getting excited again...
So my wife and I are going back to Munich to pick up an X3 3.0 for her this April, after our awesome 545 Euro Delivery Experience (http://www.thebelkfamily.net/travel).
We get there on Sunday, April 17, pickup on the 18th, drive around Northern Italy for 12 days (including Bellagio (3 nights), Rapallo (1 night), and Florence (5 nights)), drop off in Munich on the 28th, and fly home on the 29th.
As last time, we have a need to stay in Munich at the start and finish of our trip, so I tried Priceline like last year and was able to get a room at the tried and true Munich Marriott for $94, including all taxes and fees. Not bad, considering the terrible exchange rate.
All of our hotel choices are made, except for two nights after we leave Florence on the 26th, and before we have to be back in Munich on the 28th to drop the car off. Any hotel recommendations in the Dolomites region and/or Innsbruck? I'd love to stay in Heiligenblut, since it comes fairly highly recommended here, but the Grossglocknerstrasse is closed until May.
Since this trip isn't for me, I'm not quite as excited as last year, but my wife is getting the "fever," I think. I think I'm more excited about going the the San Marino F1 GP in Imola and the Galleria Ferrari in Modena.

Not that I typically do, just kind of find stuff along the way, but first night or two I've sometimes made a reservation. Then again, I don't know exactly where I'm going... However, the lakes region is very likely on target. Como or even Lugano. Do you have any good hotel recommendations.

www.weisseskreuz.at | Thanks for the tip. From the testimonials, it looks like a great place. What did they quote you as far as rates are concerned?

Do you have any good hotel recommendations. | While I consider myself somewhat adventurous, when travelling, I don't like to leave anything to chance with respect to lodging transportation.
Anyway, we are staying at the Hotel Albergo Metropole in Bellagio: http://www.albergometropole.com/, at the Hotel Astoria in Rapallo: http://www.hotelastoriarapallo.it/, and at the Villa Fiesole in Florence: http://www.villafiesole.it.
Understand that I've never actually been to these places, but the Villa Fiesole comes very highly recommended from the other ED'ers on this board, the Hotel Astoria comes recommended by emdreiSMG, who stayed there last spring, and the Albergo Metropole has some good reviews on tripadvisor.com.

-MrB | You will love Villa Fiesole. It's great. Walk up to town of Fiesole for a drink in this bar right on the cliff (forget the name right now but it must be somewhere in my writeup). The views of Firenze are to die for and their Bellinis are great. Just remember that it is outside the city and each time you will have to take the bus. Next time I go, I will try to see Lago di Garda. It is supposed to be beautiful and less touristy than Como. I am SOOOO jealous. Can't wait for pics and writeup.
