Need help planning a 7day ED trip

I need assistance in planning a 7day (really 6 full days) ED trip to pick up a 530i for end of March 05. I have been to Munich a couple of times before and visited Salzburg and Innsbruck but would not mind to visit again. I am interested in spending 2 days in Venice and need suggestions on a half day stop on the way as to shorten the trip. Also need to know driving time and distance to Venice. Any other suggestions on cities to visit other than Salzburg and Innsbruck. I am looking to use priceline to book my hotels in Munich and other cities if possible but I need hotel suggestions. I've learned a lot from members in this site. I specially would like to thank Bee for all his help in putting this together. Thanks Bee for the 10th time. LOL

March 23rd Day 1- Arrive in Munich and walk around the city/rest
March 24th Day 2- Pick up the ultimate driving machine. Drive to surrounding city or visit BMW plant if open.
March 25th Day 3- Do a day trip to surrounding city. Which one?????
March 26th Day 4- Drive to Venice and spend 1-2 nights
March 27th Day 5- Day in Venice
March 28th Day 6- Day in Venice and drive back to Munich and spend night in Munich
March 29th Day 7- Outbound flight to USA

I stayed in Garmich in southern Germany last time which is 45min from Munich(You could make it quicker but I don't think you'll have her broken in yet ) Venice is a four hour drive from there. (329Miles from Munich)

You could always head south and go to the Italian coast. I had about the same amount of time last fall. We arrived on a Monday, picked up the car the next day and drove south. We spent the first night in Milan then drove on to the coast and toured Portofino, Rapallo, and the Cinque Terre then back to Venice for a couple of days. The five villages of the Cinque Terre are really cool and to get there you'll experience some great curvy roads that cling to the cliffs with views of the sea.

Just the topic I was getting ready to post. I am planning ED in early March. I have been thinking of Venice too and maybe even going south towards Rome. I have two concerns though that I am alarmed of:
1. Snow since travel could be via the Alps
2. Fear of thieves breaking into the car in Italy (learnt from other posts on this website)

Any information on this will be appreciated. I am really keen to follow almost the same route as posted by yamilrx.

Also, how many days does it take BMWNA to confirm the order? I placed my order yesterday and until this evening the dealership has not received the confirmation.

Thanks....this is my first post. I cannot but thank everybody for the wealth of information on this site.

why return back to munich? Depart from Italy. Isn't BMW paying for free tickets?

From what I read here and from other sources, Northern Italy is pretty safe and I would imagine Rome would be fine but having a car there might be more of a liablitiy since parking is limited. ViaMichelin.com says it's about an 8 hour drive from Munich to Rome so I'd say you'd need a couple of days for driving.

I didn't venture out of the Northern part of Italy but I had absolutely no problem with thieves or crime. I tried to be cautious but generally I felt safe. The Italians do drive crazy though so you have to be prepared for that.

As far as how long it takes to get your order confirmed, I think it varies. Mine only took a few hours but my CA said he got it back suprisingly fast.
