Fun Roads in Germany/Austria
I'm planning my ED for FEbruary. I'm only going to be out there for a few days (I wish I could take longer). So my trip will be mostly comprised of a few short day trips. I was thinking maybe to Vienna, Austria, or to Venice/Florence in Italy. The third option is to drive out to Paris (that's not my favorite options as of now).
Anyway, where can I find the best roads to drive on while planning my vacation? Also do I have to worry about the snow this time of year, and alter my route accordingly? Any advice from those of you with ED experience would be GREAT. Thanks

A fast curvy secondary highway...some parts were unlimited and Heidelberg is fun. That's a pretty easy days drive from Munich, do the A-8 to Stuttgart, cut over to Heilbronn. You get your Autobahn and then some countryside (Like I've said before, the Autobahn can wear you out if you've not driven it before)

I've averaged higher speeds on I-94 between Detroit and Chicago than I averaged on the Autobahn. I only briefly touched 100mph on the Autobahn due to traffic. (The Autostrada in Italy was much more fun.) Cruising down country roads was much more fun. Nice turns and the ability to brake and accelerate on a regular basis. Unfortunately, February wouldn't be a good time to go exploring the mountains.

I found some of the best roads to break-in my car in Austria. I made a point to drive on the secondary roads, where they traversed many mountain passes and were mostly two lane roads. All of them were great, but since I really wanted to see the Tirolean Lake country around Salzburg, I found the drive from Kitzbuuhel to Hallstatt to be the best of all my driving by far. Great turns and ups and downs, engine breaking, upshifting, downshifting, scenery, you get the point. Basically, try to get out to some of the secondary roads out there and you'll thank me for it. They're just amazing.

~Jon | How do you find the secondary roads? Also will they be safe to drive on in the middle of February (ie if there is rain/snow - do they salt the roads or anything?). BTW my car is a 330i with ZHP so it doesn't have snow tires (not even close lol).

The roads are the e49 and e53, I believe, and you'll find them on a map if you look for Trier. The valley is beautiful, with vineyards on each side, and the roads wind along the river...very nice.
