After ED I'll be in southern France for 5 nights. Not that far from Spain really. Is there anything worth seeing in Barcelona or north of the city to warrant a drive there?

Barcelona is an amazing city and well worth the drive from Southern France. There are plenty people I know who prefer Barcelona over Paris. Myself, I'm a Rome guy.

How about Bilbao, for starters? I would suggest getting your hands on a copy of the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet to Spain - or even Fodor's, if they still do travel guides.

There is plenty to see in Barcelona and spanish food is one of the best. You won't regret going there, but get ready to pay for Hotels. I found a pretty nice one close to Las Ramblas for about $120/day but no parking.
