 Advice needed-should I do ED?

Hi,
I have a 2004 530 and am considering getting a 2005 545 or 6 coupe. I am curious as to how much real saving there is to ED (I am a good shopper and usually get great prices from dealers. If anyone know os a good ED dealer in NYC or suburbs, I would appreciate any help.

Please let me know what I will really save?

Here's a list of dealers who posters have had good luck with....http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...ist+ed+dealers

Ted W. is a good contributor to this board. I'd give him a call.

Connect to http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...chmentid=35314 for pricing. Looks like you can save about $3700 by doing ED on a 545i. Also, some dealers don't require as much profit margin on an ED car, so your savings may be more. Of course, you have to pay for the trip to Europe, but hey, think of it as a Euro vacation with a free "rental" car. YMMV. Good Luck !!!

Thanks for the listing. Do I have to order a car for ED from a local dealer? If I don't then what is the downside.
Thanks

You might as well go directly to the source, it's hard to imagine not going to BMWUSA.com and getting the info... they even have a page called...ah... err "cost savings"!! Why not have a look that might tell you 'what you would really save'!!

The car in the end is delivered to your purchasing dealer where you will pick it up stateside, so the obvious 'downside' is you might have to travel further / far if you purchase from a non-local dealer. Dealers can arrange a 'courtesy delivery' with your local dealer, downside = additional cost, typically $500.00. Finally, you will be establishing a relationship with your local dealer, where you will get service. Some local dealers only give loaners during service to those whoe purchased cars there.

I am currently in the process of ordering a 530i 05 and I am negotiating ED invoice $38400, + invoice on all options, + $695 destination charge, + $1X00 dealer profit, + off course taxes. I tried this through many dealers but they were not interested on ED, they seemed to not be very familiar with ED. Besides they don't discount the ones on the lot b/c of supply and demand issues. The 5series is still on demand. It was through a bimmerfest member who was kind enough to recommend a dealer in Atlanta who will do what I am willing to pay. So far that dealer has been very helpful and I recommeded him to another member from bimmerfest. Let me know if you need the dealers information. As far as the savings is concerned I am looking at saving over $4000. That is if you pay US invoice plus $2000 dealer profit which I think would be hard to get. Besides you should not tag the cost of the trip to the savings if you were considering going on vacation anyways. At least that is how I look at it. Having been to Germany several times, the feeling of driving your own car on the autobahns is priceless. Good luck

You can purchase from any dealer in the US and use courtesy delivery to your local dealer for a $400-$500 fee but I have read from other members that those dealers usually are not as courteous and deliver your car w/out even a courtesy wash. If it is not too far to drive I have learned that it is better to pick up at your purchasing dealer.
