Dropping off in Nice--Changing travel plans--

I am considering changing routes and flying out of Nice rather than going to Venice and driving back to Munich for drop off. Any inputs regarding drop off in Nice. Do they drive the car back to Germany like with Venice drop off. I read Auto theft might be an issue in Southern France. Any Hotel input for Nice and Monte Carlo. Thanks.

Wow, that looks great for 3 star price range - and I bet at that spot you avoid the nasty Nice traffic you'd get staying in the city (and driving out).

Of course I'd probably get up at 5 am to drive the moyenne corniche every morning!

Bookmarked that site, thanks!
You do avoid the traffic staying in Villefranche. It wasn't until I drove my car through Nice to DCAT (the old drop-off point) that I met the miserable traffic jams that plague Nice. Thank goodness the Nav was so accommodating about re-routing me when I was forced to take a different road than it originally suggested.

The other nice thing about Villefranche is that if you decide you don't want to face the traffic in either Nice or Monaco, the alternate transport options are very convenient. Both bus and train service are in easy walking distance from just about anywhere in Villefranche.

I just finalized travel plans with Lufthansa and I will be ending my trip in Nice. I will follow all the advise I got here in the forum regarding staying in VilleFranches and taking public transportation from there to avoid all the traffic and possible crime in Nice and Monaco. Thanks to all for the advice so far, it is very valuable. Keep it coming.

We dropped off in Nice October ’04 after spending most of the time in Italy, just so the car would be trucked back and not driven. The drop off was smooth and is at the airport as mentioned. Finding the TT lot was a bit tricky, call first to get the gate code. We stayed at a very nice B&B in St. Laurent Du Var just across river from Nice and close to the airport, then mostly used public transportation into Nice. The B&B provided secure gated and locked parking just out our door and even let me wash the car before taking to the airport for drop off providing soap, bucket and sponge! (I wanted to make sure it was “perfect” for the inspection- and I still took a ton of pics from every angle- just in case). If you want the name of the B&B let me know I’ll dig it up—I think it was only $75 euros a night, one room only in the home of a great couple, Pierre and Monique. Again, drop off in Nice was fun, easy and with confidence.
