I am considering changing routes and flying out of Nice rather than going to Venice and driving back to Munich for drop off. Any inputs regarding drop off in Nice. Do they drive the car back to Germany like with Venice drop off. I read Auto theft might be an issue in Southern France. Any Hotel input for Nice and Monte Carlo. Thanks.

do a search for hotels/crime/etc.. they truck the car from Nice to the port; no intermediate driver.

I ended my ED trip in Nice and dropping the car there. The drop off location is much better now, it is at the airport. I stayed at Hotel La Flore in Ville Franche-sur-Mer as recommended by Spectre, and other have also stayed there. It is on the coastal road between Nice and Monaco. You can check out their webpage here. Beautiful views of the bay from the room.

Wow, that looks great for 3 star price range - and I bet at that spot you avoid the nasty Nice traffic you'd get staying in the city (and driving out).
Of course I'd probably get up at 5 am to drive the moyenne corniche every morning!

Even the restaurant was great. A much better value and great food compared to the 30 Euro entrees we had at a waterfront restaurant.
Traffic was not bad until you got close to Monaco.
