OK, I'm officially going nuts waiting

Yeah, I know, everyone posts about this. But my car is at VPC now--been there close to a week, so now I can't track it. The not knowing is killing me! I'm gonna have to call my CA and get a status report--see if there's a due date at the dealer. I need my car!

Yippi! My car finally arrived at the dealer this afternoon!! My CA called and said he was watching them unload it through the window as we spoke. I know that was BS, but I pretended it was true- I just wanted to believe they were that responsive, just once. Anyway, we arranged for Thursday delivery. They needed a day to install the garage door opener and iPod adapter and do “some other stuff?” He actually tried to tell me it would take 7 to 10 days for the MSO and customs paperwork to arrive before they could license and release the car. Right! We settled on two 3 day temp licenses ($23 ea. on my tab). I still don’t understand why they can’t use the usual 45 day dealer permit on an ED—maybe something unusual about Washington State--see my post regarding this http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80836 . I can wait another day. Pics to follow. Thanks to all you Hojin’er for the support.

Very cool to hear Doug- sorry you have to wait until Thurs. though.

Well my story continues, in a good way I guess. I called my dealer again this evening ready to start demanding the question: tell me where my car is, and they said they've been speaking to the manager at the VPC and my car is now released from the VPC, and they are trying to get my car on a truck so I'll have it tomorrow. I said I have to have it by Thurs. as I'm driving up to San Fran for Christmas. So hopefully they pull through, I can't stand waiting. It's going to be so weird driving it on American roads. I remember driving it in Europe and thinking, I'm going to get into so much trouble back in the states! It's truly a beast. Well we'll see if I can experience that before the 25th. Cheers

Hmmm... who knows about the tags. Every state is different. I arrived at my AZ dealer and they already had 45-day tags on the car ready for me to go w/ no excuses. One thing that they did not do was try to upsell me on my way out - e.g., window tinting, LoJack, etc. I was surprisingly pleased! Anyway, my advice is to watch your right foot on your first day! Have fun.

This seems ridiculous. Please let us know how this turns out and whether the dealer is Seattle or Bellevue. Thanks and good luck.

I just called the dealer, and my car has definitaly been released from the VPC, but is not yet scheduled to be trucked out. They said they would have an arrival eta if it were scheduled. I asked them is there any other way we can get the car to the dealer, and they said they'd gladly drive it themselves back to the dealer if they could but the shippers wouldn't let them. So I guess there's no way for it to get onto a truck before Christmas- I so hoped it would have.
