hey everybody, before you all start jumping on me I did use the search function but I couldn't find any comparisson between drop off in Munich or Frankfurt. I found out that Munich has lots of drop offs so probably the trucks stop by more often on the way to Bremerhaven, but also I know that Frankfurt is closer to Bremerhaven. So, can you please share some stories with me or give me some ideas? I apprecciate your help! Regards, Christina |

I dropped of mine in London, so I don't think it much matters. Only think I wouldn't do is drop of in Italy... seems someone then DRIVES your car to Munich! Ouch...

My personal view is that you are correct in that more cars are dropped in Munich than any other city. Because of that there are more trucks going north on a regular basis. Also is was clear to me in 2003 that the people at Harms Munich know exactly what to do.
I did a 2004 dropoff in Vienna. There were no issues with that drop off but was left with the impression the truck may have stopped in Munich on the way north to pick up more cars.

I dropped off in Hamburg for 2 reasons:
First - I wanted to do a lot of driving on the autobahn in Germany and it is about as far as you can get from Munich (within Germany). I also wanted to spend some time in Berlin.
and Second - because it is the closest major airport to Bremerhaven. I'm not at all sure it did me any good as far as getting my car back faster but I don't think it hurt either.
Seems like Munich is the most popular drop off city; I'm sure it has a huge volume of shipments to the port. I just wonder if sometimes this may cause an ED car to have to wait behind regular cars that are already in line or even booked on a ship.

I dropped off in Paris and judging by information posted here by others who did the same it seems to be a pretty fast point for shipment (Harm's lot was packed with car's awaiting shipment). 6 weeks to the day for me here in KC and that seems to have been the norm for others dropping off there too. It just makes sense that the closer to the Atlantic the sooner it get's on a boat.

I dropped in Amsterdam, and my car was at the dealer 4 weeks, 2 days later (east coast). The point being that all the major drop off points will probably be about the same--or at least it's unpredictible which one is fastest. I would not drop in Italy, because someone actually DRIVES your car back instead of trucking it. No thanks. So if your choices are Frankfurt or Munich, go with the one that works best for your itinerary.
