 shipping time and insurance deductible??

Is there a standard wait time between ED dropoff and US dealer delivery (I am in Southern California)? Would 45 days be a good estimate? If I drop the car in Munich instead of France or Italy, will this speed things up?

I have heard conflicting things about insurance; is it true there is a 10% deductible for theft? Is it true that a leased car (I will be leasing) is subject to different insurance rules? I'm not crazy about the idea of a $6,000 hit if something goes wrong on my trip.

Thank you.

Answers:

1) No, BMW quotes 9 weeks officially.
2) No, Lately it is about 60 days, but this means nuthing as I have seem as short as 28 days and as long as 12 weeks for West Coast redelivery.
3) No, Not from my experince and from what I have seen. I have yet to see a sureway to get your car faster. despite what others tell you here.

4) Yes, Historically if the car is a total loss (be it wreck or stolen.), and you choose to get the cash rather then another new car, the 10% deductible applies.

5) I dunno, This is a question for BMWFS and please let us know if/when you find out.

thnx

I was told that the 10% deductible was only if you want a payout for theft (not accident) and even then only if you can't produce all three keys (2+valet) for the car. Has this changed or was I just misinformed?

I was also told that the insurance did not apply at all if I took the car to Eastern Europe. I wonder if that's still the case for the new Eastern European EU countries.

That said, our ED was great and the car was redelivered in great shape.
