I am the proud new owner of a 2005 Jet Black BMW 325i that was formerly a demo and I got for a great price (only 9000 miles on it).
This is my first BMW and I'm extremely impressed with the car. I do have one small issue that I'm hoping somone can shed some light on.
I have a collection of about 50 home-made music CDs burned via iTunes. These CD's play fine in my computer and in a portable CD player. However, in my BMW CD player, they skip horribly.
Could it be an issue with the CD player or the CDs themselves? Anyone else have trouble playing a burned CD in your BMW?
Thanks in advance.

Try a commercial CD. If the commercial CD skips, it's the player. Otherwise you may need to experiment with different mfr CD recording media. I have used TDK and Imation CDR/RW's successfully.

Thanks.
I did some experimentation today. I burned another copy of a CD that skipped horribly but used a different media (Memorex). The other difference was that I didn't affix a label to the CD. All my other CDs have a rather thick Avery label that I print the album cover and song list onto.
I played all 12 songs and not one skipped a bit. Unfortunately, my experiment was classically flawed since I changed two things (media and label) and not just a single variable but I'll put a label on it and see if it skips.

In my opinion, Memorex makes the worst burnable CD media. Try something like TDK or Verbatim.

I'd think twice about putting a label on a CD. It alters the weight, and some players can't handle that, particularly when the disc is spinning at high speed (outer tracks). Also, I've had CD's get stuck in players due to nothing more than the added thickness of a label. I've also seen labels bubble up and get the CD stuck (so ya better enjoy that one CD for the rest of the life of the car!)
Lastly, while rare, it is possible to mess up the reflective properties of CD's by affixing a label.
And as to the other topic -- CD-R's come in wildly varying quality. So if one brand doesn't work, shop around for another that does (I agree TDK seems very reliable).
good luck!

It was the label.
I burned two copies of the same CD. I applied the label to one and not to the other. The labeled CD skipped in the middle of track 3, skipped horribly on track 4, and tracks 5-10 wouldn't play. This is exactly where my other labeled CDs skipped.
The unlabeled CD played perfectly from tracks 1 to 10. Go figure.
Time to reburn!
