 v60i no worky?

i ordered (luckily a cheap) v60i off ebay.

the phone works fine but female part of the phone is not compatible with the male connection in my 745 (2002)

the v60i needs a connection that is flat with 2 longer protruding "nubs"

the phone needs a connection like this http://akamai.edeal.com/images/catal...img1072654.jpg the bmw is not like that

the bmw has a male piece about an inch wide that has no extra pieces (the whole male piece is even)

i took the v60i into a local cell store and the guy told me that
a) he had no v60 (the non I version)
b) the v60s have the same interface as the v60i

how could this be? does the bmw specific phones actually have a totally different interface?

i am in canada if that makes a difference

Is the "male" the piece inside a cradle you place your v60 into, or is it just the end of a cable you plug into your v60?
This site may also be of some assistance:
(easier if you have the last 7 of your VIN)

The previous owner probably had either, one of the analog-type BMW provided phones (Motorola Startac) interfaced with iDrive, or possibly just had an aftermarket hands-free system installed, using another phone, and not interfaced with iDrive. Most likely, the former.
If the pigtail in your car (the end you want to plug your v60 into) is interfaced into iDrive, it is probably just a simple retro-fit of adding the cradle and pigtail which will accommodate your v60. Most likely, this is the case.
If you're wondering, all v60's have the identical charging/hands-free input configuration.
You may also need to have BMW service program your ECU, though if the car already had a working iDrive interfaced phone, perhaps not. With the correct pigtail, it should be just plug and play.
