 Bought a 'ringer' - help!

Recently purchased a 50,000 mile '99 740iL for the Mrs. from a BMW dealer in Dallas. Found an oil leak, led to finding leaks at timing case, intake, heads, oil pan, and started smokin at startup about a week later.

Local technician believes engine is not original engine.

Anyone know how I determine if engine is the original?

Cryin' the blues right now....

1. Check the history of the vehicle at CARFAX.com. See if there's a record that says that the car was rebuilt, dismantled, salvaged, etc.

2. Look around the engine for the the vehicle's VIN attached to it. Some parts in the engine have the vehicle's VIN stamped on it.

That's all I can think of. Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Do you have two bimmerfest IDs? You already posted this info on another thread.
