I live in the Northeast and I'm getting 35% tint all around. I have reservations about the tint sticking dot matrix and about losing FM radio reception.
The brands I'm considering are Huper Optik and Llumar. What are the differences? Advantages? Are there other brands I should consider?

You probably need to make a list of the characteristic of the tint you are looking for. That will help you decide what film to use. Please note that although Huper Optik is known for its Ceramic line of film, it also makes a metallic line of film that has a higher heat rejection. Ceramic already rejects nearly as twice as much hear as your standard film.

If I had to do it today, I'd do Huper Optik Ceramic 30. Anyone think this is a mistake?

I called a local installer that was recommended and here's the prices for 2006 325i:
$625 for Huper Optik 30 $255 for Llumar (35%)
What am I getting for more than double the price with Huper Optik? I'm open to paying it but what is it? I know one is ceramic, but what does that really buy me?

Here in Houston, Huper Optik Ceramic and FormulaOne Pinnacle will run close to $500. Prices do vary across the country, I have seen people in CA report that they have had their installations done in the $300's. You need to be more specific about Llumar since they like all manufacturers cover the entire range of the market with films of different price points and specifications. From Llumar's website: Quote: LLumar offers films in dyed, dyed/metal and all metal combinations. A wide variety of light transmission ranges are available to help you ind exactly the film that is right for your vehicle |

Llumar, like LDV330i described, covers a broad array of films. I don't believe that they offer a ceramic alternative to Huper Optik.
Ceramic film offers the same level or better heat rejection as metallic tint without the glare and interference with radio/satelite signals. I think it's well worth the money.
To ease price concerns, shop around for both Formula One Pinnacle and Huper Optik Ceramic. These two ceramic tints are very similar in terms of appearance and performance. I'd go with whichever you can get cheaper in your area, but make sure you go with an experienced installer. Any tint, metallic, dyed, or ceramic will give you some trouble with the dot matrix, but an experienced installer will minimize this issue.
