 Gary's Mirror Adaptor

Just an FYI for anyone who is interested, and/or has been waiting; Gary now has adaptors and mirrors in stock!!

I just received an e-mail from him this morning. It seems that a couple of his sub-contractors were dragging their feet a bit, but now he's got the products on the shelf.

Anyway, I placed an order for an adaptor and mirror this morning, and it will be shipping today.

For anyone who hates the huge stock mirror on their M Roadster and wants to replace it, this adaptor is a good way to do that.
I had one on my previous car, and considered it to be one of the best upgrades available.

Sombody that makes shift knobs maybe?

Does anyone know how to order this? Unfortunately in a 2002 Z3, my remote door lock stuff is in the mirror, so I need to work around that, but being 6'2", I would love to get the mirror up higher and have an auto dim mirror like the one in my Toyota!

I have a 2001 3.0. Anyone know how to verify if the remote guts are in the mirror? The site says "some" 2001 models have this feature. Thanks!

I offered to help Gary, when he mentioned to me that his source for wire EDM operations was tied up with other automotive work.
He didn't accept my offer, so I have to assume that he's satisfied with the suppliers that he has.

These days, I'm pretty swamped with industrial machine work.
My big customer is getting rid of many of their own toolmakers (including their model shop, where I used to work!); and as a result, my workload is bound to increase even more.

I own a 3.0 as well, with a 4/01 build date. My remote sensor was up in the mirror, but I didn't have any trouble installing Gary's mirror. I was able to tuck the sensor back up under the reading light near the top of the windshield--it took a little trial and error to get it to fit.

Gary's instructions explain how you can reposition the sensor under the dashboard if you need to go that route.

I'm pleased with the results. I gained a few square inches of visibility with the smaller mirror.
