coolant change flush on '01 m roadster?

Hey guys. I used the search function to no avail I couldn't find any information about how to change coolant on the m roadster. Recently I performed some of the other basic fluid changes like brake and differential, but I have yet to do the transmission, coolant and power steering. I am now nearing 50k so I'm probably overdue. If anyone has a writeup for draining and filling coolant that would be eggzelent

Check in DIY. The procedure is the same on all the 3 based cars.

BTW dealer should have done it at 2 - 3 years under teh maintenance agreement.

  1. Put the car on blocks
  2. Remove under-tray
  3. Put catch pan under radiator
  4. Undo bung
  5. Undo coolant cap
  6. Wait
  7. Undo block bung behind the friggin O2 sensor - just loosen it - damn near impossible at any rate
  8. If you want to get it done now - undo bung
  9. Take shower to get coolant out of hair
  10. If you can wait, just undo the bung enough so it drips
  11. Come back tomorrow and tighten block and radiator bung
  12. Fill with 50/50 BMW coolant and distilled water and purge system. Should take about 2 gallons(?) total.

Thanks for the tips guys. I found this helpul guide with photos while searching at the DIY section. So for my 2001 M Roadster, I can follow this guide verbatim?

I hope the previous owner had the dealer perform the service as I've only owned the car for about a year.

Is it true that the 2001-2002 model years have no vent plugs on radiator and thermostat housing and that the cooling system is vented during the whole procedure?

No vents on the radiator and thermostat housing. Just take cap off and leave it off.
