Alarm triggering right after I set it.... could courtesy lights affect this?

The car is a 99 M roadster. I pulled some of the carpeting out of the trunk, when I did this, the courtesy light in the trunk burnt out (filament is broken). I also pulled the stock subwoofer out of the car and noticed that the courtesy light over the windshield is not going on. I didn't touch the battery.

I went to lock up the car, the alarm chirps as normal then 10 seconds later, the alarm goes off. Does anybody know what is causing this?

The voltage on the battery appears fine. Everything is closed so I am not getting the 3 chirp warning.

It is not uncommon for the courtesy light fixture in the trunk to develop a short to the car body. This does impact the alarm. I don't know whether or not the windshield light is on the same circuit.

Then that's probably it, I wondered about the fuse for the courtesy lights and if it were on the same circuit as something in the alarm. I am sure the two contact points touched part of the sheet metal. In which case, I will definitely agree that the interior light is on the same fuse as the trunk light, because it worked the last time I was in the car.

Thank you for your input.

The interior and luggage compartment light are on the same F33 fuse. It's a hot at all times line.

Fuse 33 also supplies power to the electronics control and alarm modules. It does this through the luggage compartment light. So if the light is open, no power to these modules.
