Unfortunately for people who hold one of these warranty policies, it's not an unusual occurence for third party warranty issuers. Now the holders of these policies will have to pay for the repairs they need and they're probably out a couple of thousand dollars for their effort.

Another reason to avoid 3rd party warranties.
At least if you buy the extended warranty from BMW, ifTHEY go out of business, the least of your worries would be the warranty.
