I have been trying off and on to get a picture of my car in my signature field. How does one go about doing that?

You have to post over a certain number of posts...I think it's more than 100. Basically you have to post many mindless coments instead of several informative statements.

The avatar has the 100 picture requirement. You can put a picture in you sig anytime.
To edit your sig go UserCP/Edit Signature. The sig box is very similar to the message box. To have the picture show in the sig it will be have to be hosted remotely just like when you post a message and you do not want a thumbnail but the full size picture show up in the message.
