Break-in procedure for clutch; 1st gear difficult to engage

I recently had my clutch, throwout bearing, and pilot bearings replaced. I've put about 100 miles on it so far.

Also, since then, it's been a little difficult to engage 1st gear from a stop. I have to give a little more force to get it in, or engage second, then first. Kind of annoying.

Suggestions/thoughts? Thanks

Have you had the work for the shift pin service bulletin done? This sounds exactly like the symptom. My car's in line to get it fixed for the same symptom, as soon as there's no snow on the ground. First (and sometimes 2nd) occasionally hard to engage when the transmission is fully warmed up.

i just purchased a 2000mcoupe and i have the same problem with getting the shifter into gear, i really have to mash the clutch pedal into the floor. It's almost like I have to double clutch to upshift, downshifting seems easier for some reason. I just thought that was the car, and i am retraining myself. What is this shift pin service bulletin?

If first gear is not lined up (synchros) DO NOT MASH on the clutch, and DO NOT force the gear lever. IF you have a clutch stop, what I say will be easier.

When going for 1st gear, let out clutch a couple of inches. This will give the sychros another spin and usually will open up 1st gear's gate. This is how all manaul trannies acted that did NOT have worn synchros. And Im sure you know, always be at a complete stop before clutching into 1st gear. You wont be in such a hurry and you wont force the syncros. If you must get into first gear without stopping, learn how to rev match.

One of the service bulletins is attached. The problem outlined here isn't affected by working the clutch, use that as a determining factor as to whether or not you have this problem. No grinding, just a fork that doesn't want to move because the catch pin is stuck in a detent in the top of the fork. My assumption is that the original pins have too much thermal expansion. It only happens with my car in warm weather, and not all of the time. But when it happens, it's very annoying; in my car it's always the 1st/2nd gear fork and I'm trying to get going from a stoplight. It just started happening this fall.

I have heard of this service bulletin before. Damn, I really don't want to have to deal with my dealer. I'm not even under warranty and I didnt buy the car from them...chances are they wont fix it for free.

thanks, I'll try this to see if this helps
