I just recently bought a '97 Z3, after many months of research!!! I love my car...Montreal Blue!! I also read about how bad the stock BMW stereo was.I went to Best Buy and just got a new one installed, with optional Sat Radio and a Alpine upgrade so I can plug in my iPod.
BUT NOW, my remote for alarm only 'chirps' and no longer works the doors. Best Buy can reinstall the stock stereo and says that the BMW and HONDA run the alarm thur the stock stereo??? In fact Honda runs the airbags thru the stereo---how stupid is that??
Any one else have this issue?? How can I get my alarm and remote doors to work again?? Am I stuck with the BAD stock stereo or is BEST BUY full of BS??!?!?!

there is an alarm sensor behind your radio. take it out, or make sure that the pin in the back of your radio goes throught the sensor so that it knows that the radio is still there.

Here is a perfect example of why I wouldn't let BB or CC or almost anyone else touch my stereo. Airbag through the stereo? What a moron.
