(Sorry for the X-Post) I have a 02 Z3 with the sport/ premium package. The drivers seat is SO uncomfortable after about 20 minutes. Lower back and left leg thigh seem to be taking a miserable beating in this car. I've owned it about 5000 miles and but it only has 24k on it, so I can't imagine the bolsters are worn out (I'm about 185#).
I've seen taller folks tilting it further back, but I don't think that will fit me... as I've always tended to like a flat seat. In that vein, I tried machining a 1/2" spacer to put under the back of frame to flatten the seat, but it didn't help either.
Thoughts???

You might try finding a set of non-sport seats, there flat as the Everglades. I have the opposite problem, my brothers car has the non-sport seats and we both prefer an elevated front.
Good luck finding a solution,
Paul

I'm more inclined to buy aftermarket seats and make a custom base. I'm just about to head off to the shop to make some tube nuts for raising the front. I figure (after a bit of searching) that raising the front seems to be the end all be all for a lot of folks, so I'm going to give it a shot. I'll post the pics of them when I'm done, but I'm going to use 1.25" 303 solid stainless round bar, drill and tap to 8mm/1.25 and screw in a piece of allthread to retain the factory nut. Looks like the minimum height increase is going to be about .5". I'll probably make several different heights.

Here's a write up on one way to raise the front of the seats.
