Today I pulled out onto Woodruff Road to find myself right behind a Titanium Silver Z4 coupe. It had very little camouflage, only a little dark tape stripe down the left and right of the rear bumper to hide the new creases, and two wider tape stripes running front to back across the inside of the humps in the top. It was wearing the celophane on the rear lights, all of the Roundels were taped over, and it had the old style Z4 front bumper. (non face lift) I followed it for about 5 miles and was stopped in traffic behind it many times. I passed it a couple of times and then dropped back in to look again. At one point the guy rolled down his window and we exchanged pleasantries.
From my perspective, the pictures do not do it justice. From the pictures, I thought the width of the top as compared to the height of the car looked out of proportion. In real life, it does not. It is absolutely stunning in person. The side view with the new top visibility takes some of the focus off of the Z flame surfacing design, which in my eyes is a good thing.
I called my local dealer and put myself on the list for the M version. They indicate that it'll be available in June. I'm stoked. This thing looks great in person and with the new M front and the dual exhausts, it should be fabulous.
I'm excited. I'm looking forward to seeing it again. Hopefully in my driveway.
