 broken exhaust hanger

Hi all

yesterday I was looking underneath my 1999 M coupe and I saw the outboard hanger of the right muffler broken off midway cleanly with 5mm gap (under stress I presume)...tried shaking it, the muffler itself is still pretty tight and held in place by the other two hangers (one of left and one on the pipe)...is this safe?

checked the diff hanger, it was fine...

is this a common issue, cause that outboard hanger of the right muffler is angled forward rather than straight like the one on the left muffler

thinking about woelding it with some reinforcement...

James - thx

I'd fix it up, or just have a muffler shop make you a new hanger. The stock mufflers are quite heavy, they need the support. Cheap and easy to fix.

Alternatively, buy a new aftermarket exhaust for yourself for Christmas.
