Z4 3.0: just shod it with non-runflat snows....
And the difference is noticeable and noteworthy.
Gone is the crashing over small bumps and ridges, the twitchy steering and tramlining. Also gone is at least 3db of noise and vibration.
It feels like a car, not a freakin' hayride!!
I went with 17's all around 225/17/45 in place of the staggered set-up of 225/18/45 front, 255/18/35 rear. The new winter tires are Blizzaks.
I went with a korean brand alloy wheel that was only 99 bucks, but seems really well made, I even got the little BMW inserts.
I'm a happy camper courtesy of www.tirerack.com
Come spring, I'll have to figure out what to do regarding the runflats that came with the car, they're brand new (only 4k on 'em), my inclination is to replace them with non runflats and get the spare tire kit from leatherz.
I like the concept of the runflat, but not the practice.
Btw, those standard BMW 18 inch sport wheels are beautiful, but heavy, oy....my aching back.

Ed | I'm looking into this for the MZ-4 coupe. The MZ-4 roadster has 18's but have no idea what the MZ4- coupe will have. The Z4-coupe concept has 19's.
Was thinking of using the front winter wheel, like the MZ-3 coupe uses front and rear, but the E46-M3 uses two different winter wheels front and back which at the moment doesn't make sense.
Does the LeatherZ 17" donut fit your car front and rear?

Does the LeatherZ 17" donut fit your car front and rear? | Here's what the LeatherZ folks say: Quote: Using a Space Saver Spare allows you to refrain from using the M mobility system and also allows you to replace your run-flat tires with performance tires. Our Space Saver tire uses an original BMW space saver wheel and a Continental spare tire in the correct size. The wheel is the correct offset and bolt pattern to clear the front and rear brake calipers on the E46 M3, M coupe, M roadster, Z4, and all E46 3-series cars without any interference. Our tire comes mounted to the wheel and is ready for use on your car. We include a vinyl spare tire cover, hand made and custom fit to this tire size to our specifications. Our tire cover uses Velcro instead of zippers to prevent binding and any damage to the interior hatch trim or carpet.

http://leatherz.com/Merchant2/mercha...tegory_Code=Z4 | OK. Thanks. I forgot that it fit the M3. I was the first to try the E46 donut on the M coupe.

Guess the question should be whether it will fit the M3 (MZ-4) with the CSL brakes.
Still doesn't answer why the E46 M3 uses different snow wheels front and back versus the M-Z3 coupe.
I have the donut but always wanted to go with the MZ-3 front wheel for the long trips.
I just ordered a 16 inch wheel with tire (stock wheel) for a friend that just purchased a '06 E90 325i. Also ordered the new jack kit which includes everything you need to change out a wheel/tire. So if she gets stuck, someone ese can swap out the bad wheel with the same and I can deal with the bad wheel later and put it back into the trunk.
Plan on doing the same with the MZ-4 coupe but have no idea if it will fit in the trunk or work front/rear yet.
