No Heat in my Z3
My 2001 z3 has no heat. Fan blows nice COLD air, temp guage comes up to normal. My assumption is that the valve that lets hot water into the heating coil is stuck on off. In another car I had, this valve was controlled by a cable attached to the "hot/cold" temperature guage on the dash. Is this the case with the z3? or is it some fancy computer controller? If it is a cable, where is it so I can re-attach it?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. | Do you NOT have heat as you're going down the road, or just when sitting/idling in the driveway?
Engine speed needs to be about 2000 RPMs before valve opens.
On an S-52 M Rdstr, the valve looks like this:

I did this every winter and then back to off in the spring!

The heater core water valve is electrically controlled. The temp knob makes a switch just after you turn the knob up from full "cold". I think the valve is either fully off or fully on. The temperature is regulated by the knob controlling how much of the ventilation air flows through the heater core.
The valve is mounted on the bulkhead behind the intake manifold. If you have a VOM or a test light, you can check for voltage at the connector with the ignition switch in "run" (position 2) and the temp knob turned up to full hot. If there is voltage, the valve solenoid probably has failed. If there is no voltage, you could have a blown fuse (Bentley says it's behind the radio) or a bad switch on the temp control.
Good luck, and let us know what you find.
