Hello Everyone,
I just bought a 2001 Z3 2.2 and noticed that when the ASC is on, the ASC light comes on on the dashboard but it has a triangle around it. The one like you would place a few metres away from your car when you have a puncture to warn other moterist. My questions to Z3 owners is :
1. When the ASC is engaged, is the ASC light indicator supposed to come on to tell you ASC is on and if yes, is there supposed to be a triangle around it? I thought the triangle is an internationally for warnings.

When the ASC is activated by the car the light on the dash will illuminate(flash), telling you that it is detecting wheel slip and is doing its thing. When you push the ASC switch on the console, the light will come on and stay on. This tells you that you have disabled the ASC system.
The symbol is a circular arrow surrounding a triangle surrounding an exclamation point.
My guess is the triangle is your international warning symbol, telling you that the system is either activated or disabled and you should be careful.
For truly spirited driving, push the button.

Hello Daven,
thank you so much for the info. So you are really saying that when ASC is on, the light should be off and should only come on when ASC is actually engaged by the OBC. Is it is off...ie the lights are on, the system has been manually disengaged. Now its starting to make sense. Thanks again !

Yes, light on constantly, system is off. Light comes on and off or flickers, ASC is doing its thing to keep you on the road.
