 Bothersome headlight reflections

I've noticed since I got my z3 that the headlamps seem misaligned, almost cross-eyed. The drivers' side lamp gives off some reflected light to the right that is aimed above horizontal. If I try to lower the beam to lower that reflection, the rest of the left side beam is too low. Also, I see the filaments in the beam ahead--shouldn't the light be more diffuse?

anyone else with a similar problem and how have you dealt with it.

You might need to adjust the headlights.

These instructions might help

If you mean where the beam pattern goes up at an angle on the right-hand side, it's like that on my Z3 too. But, because the beam pattern is exactly like some Cibie (euro spec) headlights I put in a TR6 many years ago, I think the Z3 headlights are supposed to be that way.

See the link for details on aiming and beam patterns.

Thanks for that link! That confirms that the beam should be more elevated off to the right. I thought it was a problem with my lights, but apparently that's the way it's supposed to be.

both headlights are supposed to be slanted at an angle, sort of in this direction / / so your headlights would not blind the oncoming traffic.

That's the theory, and it worked pretty well before we had multi-lane highways. Now it is only applicable if you drive in the far right lane only (far left in the UK), otherwise you blind the folks one lane to the right of you by means of their rear-view mirrors. But that's the pattern that is approved by the government, and they are never wrong, right?
