 OT: Miata battery or starter?

Ok, so the miata doesnt start today. It turns over slowly, but wont crank. I assume this is due to the battery because its gotten progressively worse. Its a sealed gel cell battery, and I will go pick up a replacement tonight, but just wanted to confirm that it sounds like the battery.

It turns over once of twice slowly, but wont start. Seems to be worse with the colder weather.

Any oppinions?

I would say it is a safe bet a new battery is in order

Were you able to jump it to get it started? If so, I'd say very likely that battery. If not, I'd say either plug wires or coil pack(s). What year is it?

Luckily, advance auto parts has a battery, I will take the dead one down there and let them have a go at it.

Good thing I have a back up car.

Yep, this sounds like either a bad battery or bad cable connections. Most likely is a bad battery.
Plug wires, coil packs, or any other ignition part will NOT cause slow cranking.

I dont think its cranked this well in the last 2 years. Just starts right up. Thanks for the advice everyone. New battery at Autozone. Its got 370 CCA. So its pretty small. It has vent hoses and ties right into the system that was in the car, so its of no concern. Just glad that I have that taken care of so I dont have to leave my baby out in the sun.
