I plan on doing my own changes and in looking at the various manually powered oil extractors, I've come up with either the Topsider or the medium sized one from Pella. Any and all suggested preferences and why appreciated

I have a Pela. Capacity is larger than Topsider. It has worked flawlessly for me.

MityVac! Just get the bigger model (holds 8+ quarts) so you don't have to go two rounds to evacuate the whole system.

Don't know much about the one you've mentioned, but I've had the one from Griot's Garage for about four years. It's worked very well. Beats getting under the car. I had a convertible with the cross brace under the motor and every time I changed oil it would pour out hit the brace and splatter all over the place. Then I started taking the cross brace off to change oil. Got to be a chore. Then I got the extractor! I can change oil and the filter in ten minutes now! I imagine they all work about the same. Get one . You won't be disapointed.

I've got the manual model of the MityVac and highly recommend it. They are available from Griot's but can be found cheaper at places like Tool Warehouse.
