Z4 - daily ride
I am considering selling my 330ci, and leasing a Z4 with the current deals on them, but it would be my daily driver. I do not have a far commute, but I do a lot of driving on weekends, roadtrips, etc...As compared to 330, how is the ride feel? I have heard it is a harsh ride, but some say that the 330 can be harsh as well, I feel that its perfect. Also, how is the wind noise with the top up? That could be something that will drive me crazy. My other option would be to wait untilt the e90 coupe comes out, sell my e46, then decide between the sedan or coupe. Thanks.

The engine has an intentionally throatier note, the level of interior noise is higher and you'll be looking under just about every car in traffic, especially SUV's.
If none of this bothers you, then you're a candidate for a sports car.

| | Reply » Z4 - daily ride | The thing I am most worried about is wind noise with the top up as I have never had a convertible. The only thing I can refer back to is a Jeep Wrangler which sounds like I am in the middle of a Tornado once I hit 25mph. I dont think this is the case with the Z4, and hopefully I will be able to tell by a test drive. I have heard complaints on older e46 convertibles, and hoping the z4 is not the same case.

Ed | i find the bigger annoyance to be @ night, as pretty much every suv's headlights line right up with the rear window and blind me

as far as the ride: it doesn't bother me, and i don't really notice it afte rnot having driven a luxo oriented car in quite awhile
but this last week i spent a day driving a 5er, and well there is a definite and distinct difference the 5er was markedly quieter and smoother- very big difference the harsher z4 ride doesn't bother me (though I don't think it's as bad as some reviewers state- it's not backbreaking)
i'd put a 3er in between the z & the 5er...
but from your comments it doesn't really sound like the z4 is the car for you if your more concerned with noise/comfort i'd stick to a 3 series w/o a doubt the z is made for fun & sportiness, and not extreme comfort or cross country trips
