2.8 (aka my problem child) codes
The other week I had the ABS sensors go on the fritz, then I got a CEL. Car ran fine and the light went out in a day or two, so I guessed it was a gas cap issue. Today finally read the codes and this is what I found....I don't understand #1 I think 2&4 are the gas cap and #3 has me really really worried.....help advice mild sedative would all be appreciated  1. functional check purge valve 2. evap small leak 3. misfire cyl 1 4. evap large leak  should I not drive the car due to #3 (or any)? | | Reply » 2.8 (aka my problem child) codes |
a single misfire code isn't all that big of a deal, could be bad gas, or gas near the end of the fuel tank, or something like that. The purge valve function check can be annoying, becuase its basically a diagnostic fault, the car ran a test on itself and it failed. If it keeps coming back you'll have to get it fixed.
Also, buy a new gascap, the 'large' leak is it not being on all the way, the 'small' leak is it leaking past the seal a little bit.
