 2000 M Roadster Questions

Hi Folks,
A local Ford dealer has a 2000 M Roadster on the lot. I found it when I was doing my occasional search for a Z3 Coupe. I'm not sure I really want it, but I have a few questions that you may be able to answer and help me decide.
It's listed for $22,800 (although the salesman said they want $23,995). It looks pretty good. The top is in good shape. Drives good. VIN # is WBSCK9342YLC91603.
It has 38,000 miles.
The rear tires are slick.
The passenger airbag light is on.
There is a small chip in the windscreen.
I couldn't find a sticker under the hood that has the part number on it like all the other body panels have. There is a similarly shaped sticker that is yellow/black and has BMW printed on it, but no number. Does this mean the hood has been replaced? The paint under the hood at the front isn't silver, but it looks like nicely done gray. I used to have a white Z3 and it was all white under the hood. Which is correct? My former Z3 had been in a minor front-end accident and may have been repainted white. I don't want to get another one that has been wrecked.
Since this is the 240hp version, is it as prone to the rear suspension cracking as the later models? Should I expect to have that happen?
I already have a Z4 which I would not be getting rid of. I just liked the "raw" feel of the Z3, but I really wanted a Coupe.
Should I even consider it?
Finally, what do you think it's worth?
If I don't want it, is anyone else interested? It's in Huntsville, Alabama.
Thanks,
Craig

The yellow and black sticker would indicate that it's not an original body panel. I would run a car fax or take the VIN to a BMW dealer and have it run. That may give you some history as to what was replaced and why.

BTW rear end problems are not limited to S54 powered cars, 1.9L 4 cylinders have had the problem.

It sounds like the hood was replaced, but it might be for any number of reasons, which might be OK.

The airbag light "on" may cost a few $$$$$ to repair too, depending on the fix. You have a Z4 convertible and want raw...definitely complement it with a Coupe.

Hi Folks,
Thanks for all the replies. Based on that info, I think I'll pass this car.
And Coronet, that is a beautiful Coupe. I'll keep it in mind, but I was really looking for one that has been advertised locally a couple times.
Thanks again for your help!
Craig
