Is it normal to detect a slight burning smell when you drive the car a little harder (nothing crazy)? I took it up in the mountains last weekend and the engine kind of smelled when I got out of the car. Could it be because the oil is fairly new? I only have 1000 miles on it. I put in Castrol syntec high output (5w-30).
Also, what level should the coolant be at? I have a floater with a red stick in there but it’s just not clear to me what level it should be at. When cold, the stick is a little bit below the rim.
Thx!

Are you sure it wasn't your brake pads?

I was actually thinking clutch plate. A pretty distinctive smell, but I'm not good at describing it.

Smell is indeed hard to describe. Kind of similar to rubber burning but not exactly...
