More 6 Speed Woes - Advice?

Okay, nothing goes right for me it sure seems.

List of new things:
Euro E36 6 Speed
Shortened Driveshaft
Shortened Linkage
UUC Performance Organic Clutch Kit

Got the 6 speed installed, everything bolted up, turns on no problems.

I run through all of the gears in the garage and let the clutch out slowly with the parking brake on - All gears operate as normal.

I put it into reverse to back out of the garage, no problem. I get into the street, click it into 1st gear, take off normally.

Get up to 2500rpm, shift to 2nd gear - No problem.

Get up to 2500rpm, shift to 3rd gear - Gears grind like crazy, will not engage 3rd gear. Skip to 4th gear, works fine (usually, had a grind once but I think that was just because I was angry and being a punk).

Have not tested 5th or 6th.

When downshifting from 3rd, will not engage 1st - even at a dead stop.

Am I SOL (and $$), is the clutch not installed properly, are the synchros all destroyed?

I dunno. I'm sitting here with a lot of shortened parts and a car that I can't drive, and I'm literally about to cry - right after I break everything I can get my hands on

My gut says, I can either learn to drive a car w/ no synchros or spend a lot more $$ and put the 5 speed back in. Anyone else have any ideas?

I forgot to add - While putting the car back together, I was bleeding the brakes and accidentally stepped on the clutch which resulted in the slave cylinder blowing the piston out and all the rubber gaskets coming out.

I cleaned that up and replaced the gaskets, crimping the metal ring back in place and making sure the gasket was all sealed up.

It does not leak at all - but could that possibly be a more "easy answer" as to why I could be having problems?

Just thought of that.

Relax, have a beer and wait for some answers from the other board members

Sometimes you need to put the mind at rest for a while and think things over a little later. I'm sure you'll find the solution you need! No worries !

Bleed the clutch properly, make sure that there is NO air traped in slave

Clutch was bled properly, twice to double check.

1) Replace the slave cylinder.
2) Is your shifter sitting properly?
