I'm looking to take the top rear section of the centre console off (the plastic part that holds the handbrake surround trim, cupholder bins, emergency switch and rear switch cluster).
It appears that this is a piece of plastic attached to the bottom section (main part) of the console.
Has anyone done this. I'm hoping not to have to take out the whole console, just to get this piece off.

It is all one piece. I've had mine out and it's a real pain to remove.

Turnaround did a very detailed writeup of console removal - I found it was the best guide around when I did mine. I think it is hosted over on www.368s.com.
