i have a 96 z3. Auto
1. will im in gear "D" sometime the car drive like its in the manuel mode but the "M' light is not on. feel like the trans lost power and it shift hard.
2. when im in D driving at 40mph the car vibrate ex. the seats feels like its a message chair. and sound like the muffle is loud but i dont think its the muffler. the sound is loud near the exhaust manifold.

something like this is not a "normal" problem with the z3s.. without someone acutally looking at the car no one can say what it is, If I had to guess something is either worn out or way out of spec
either tires are worn badly or a rim is bent, ball joints are toast or something to that effect
I would say get it to a shop soon because if its a ball joint or something it could be dangerous to drive
