Hello all, I just picked up a 2001 M-coupe last Saturday . It is silver in mint condition with 10,000 miles on it. I love the car and is a dream to drive, but I have heard of several recalls on the s54 including something about rod bearings??? I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on this so I know what to look out for or what work needs to be done. Thanks for letting me know what you know! | | Reply » New Member, New M-Coupe Owner | Maybe try the search button, many threads on the S54 engine.

This site lists all the service bulletins, you particular model/year has quite a lengthy list.
If your engine was one of the ones rebuilt, you should have a 100k warranty.
During this period, on of BMW's suppliers provided defective parts that affected some, not all M3's during 01-02.

Good luck!

As if the engine issue isn't enough for the S54 owners, look into the subframe issues that all Z owners are prone to experience (sticky at the top plus search)...it might give you nightmares, but there are solutions, so don't worry too much
Enjoy, its a great car!
