Transporting my 06' 530i Across Country

Hello Everyone

I'm moving from New York to Los Angeles early next year and I am in the process of researching a good auto transport company. Many are not listed with BBB and I starting to feel the slippery slime each time I get a phone call or e-mail from a bidding company!

Can anyone suggest a firm that you may have used or know someone who had a positive experience with an auto transport company?

Anyone help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

A little side tracked and more than just auto transport experience... but I'll share it anyway.

I have used NelsonWesterberg's services and have nothing but good experiences. Depending on the need, if they don't have what is needed, they will get it somewhere. But they will be your contact all the time. I relocated overseas and our stuff was handled by 3 different companies (2 within Europe and 1 in Canada in addition to Nelsons management from US) but Nelson took care of it all. I just worried about getting myself in the plane on time which is not always easy with two small boys

Just a thought and depends on the needs. If it is only a car then there are probably cheaper ways but if you relocate your life then there's more to it and making it easy may become a priority.

Thanks for the info Phuksi

? - So you used this company to move everything including your car??? If so, how expensive?

Thanks again!

Close to everything you need for basic daily life. You just tell them your need, they (or a representative) will come to your house to evaluate, they will come up with needed resources (for example other companies if going outside US), come to your house and pack everything, transport everything... They also arrange insurance for you. For insurance you need to provide a detailed list of items and value for each of them (the value depends on what type of insurance you want).

My comments:
1. Very easy
2. Painless
3. Perfect job, not a single thing that I could complain about
4. Didn't have to worry about the cost But I bet a good amount of money

One other way to think about it is to get some type of a container, drive your car into it and secure it tightly, put all your other stuff in there too well packed and secured. That's how I want it to be done when put into a ship for overseas transportation. For inland you would lift the container on a truck and hit the road. At least your car is safe inside and you get it from door to door.

Intercity Lines--I have no experience with them, but on other forums they seem to be first rate from the feedback. I think that I saw around 800-1000 for a significant distance. g/l

Ive used Able Car Transport for mine, but it was a short haul NY to Va. I noted that most of these transport company are just clearing houses that contract their business to different Independent car tranporters. So, it will really depend on who they got to move your car for you.
