Stock 00 2.8 w 225/50/16 Michelin Pilots. Sport package. 10k miles
Objective: would like the rear end to be more "planted" on x-way lane change transitions

Options from search effort
1. Increase rear tire size
2. Aftermarket sway bars
3. Urethane sub frame bushings

I have no desire to lower the car or seriously degrade ride compliance, have no intention of "tracking" the car. T.I.A. for your input

I have the 17' upgrade on my 2.8 225/45/ZR17on front 245/40/ZR17on the rear and she plants quite well. The only other thing I have done are install front and rear strut braces.

In my own opinion, two more options to consider would be aftermarket shocks and a rear Strong-Strut brace.

Front strut brace - quick and easy to install, does help

Urethane subframe bushings - major aid to controlling rear

GOOD shocks (may be higher priority depending on mileage) withaftermarket rear shock mounts (GC, RE or TC Kline)

Sways (H&Rs from Turner)

Tires, maybe a bit wider, but quality over quantity. Top line tires will do more than lower line wider tires.

I have to concur. The "wag" in the rear end was completely gone after this mod. I'd do this before anything else as it's a night and day difference.

That strong-strut sure gets good reviews, but I can't see it doing all that much. It's a flat metal bar that runs from one subframe mounting bolt/stud to the other. Those studs are large and very securely mounted, however, the subframe bushings are very soft with an "open-air" soft rubber insert. This is where all the movement is coming from, and replacing those bushings with solid urethane bushings is going to do a far better job of restricting movement of the subframe. I understand there may be some slight flexing of the subframe studs under very high loads, and the strong-strut would help that flexing; but most of the subframe movement is coming from the overly soft subframe bushings.
