 Z3 soft top

I have a 1998 Z3. The soft top was replaced last year and it had the unfortunate circumstance of a cigarette landing on the top and burning through the roof. So, it needs to be replaced again. My car insurance company gave me a significantly lower assessment than that of the dealership for replacing the top. Does anyone know of a good online auto part store where I could perhaps get the top for cheaper?

Thanks in advance!

Cabrioworld sells aftermarket tops. I'm having one installed in the next week or so. After reading threads on difficulty factor and that you most likey only do this once in a life time. I felt it wasn't worth learning the pitfalls of the install and the Pain in the a** it is.
Leaving it to the pro's who do this every day. Not BMW dealer but his subcontractor...

I bought & installed a new top for my recently sold 911 cab. It is a very complex top to install and I was able to do it in a few (4 to 5) hours. If you are handy, have any experience in this and are patient then I think you could replace your own top.

I bought my 911 top from http://www.convertibleautotops.com/ off of ebay...great quality and very helpful people...I had a couple of questions about the headliner refit that they were more than happy to answer on the phone....

If I ever have to replace my M or my wife's 3 series top, I would use them to buy the top and do the install myself.....

There are some good aftermarket tops, but one factor to consider is that most if not all of them have sewn-in rear windows instead of the zip-in window on the oem top.

Teddy is arranging the install as he knows who's who around here.

Off the subject he took me for an off road ride in the new V8 powered AWD Volvo SUV Sunday - very inpresive. Much smoother than the X5 - off road. we ran through sugar sand up to the hubs at low & higher speeds, in straight lines & sharpe turns - never the slightest hint of loosing grip or plowing. Up & down hills the traction control had none of the jerkiness or harsh gear noise as I experienced at HC in the X5. Also has a hill hold feature while in gear going up or down hill with out any roll.
If I lived up north or out west where it snows I would have to consider it.
Are you going to Lakeland Sat.
If so what time are you leaving?? Got to be there by 10:00AM
