Fastest BMW Ever Made Is...?

"What is the fastest BMW ever made -- in terms of combination of top speed and acceleration?"

Well, the McLaren F1 has a BMW engine...it does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, and maxes out at 232 mph (or thereabouts).

Other than that, it would have to be the Z8, with a 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds, and a top speed of 155 (electronically limited).

Around 2 months ago, there was a YouTube video of two Greek guys in a new M6 cranking along at 7800 RPM in seventh gear....somewhere around 208 MPH, I believe....

Street or race? If the latter, then the V12 LMR is going to be somewhere near the top with 600+ HP in a sub-2000 pound car.
