excellent service experience today at Otto's

I have always been a fan of Otto's service in Westchester, despite their very high retail prices.

I brought the M3 in, now with 771 miles to them at 2 PM and waited for a rear speaker rattle and a question about rear bumper alignment. I also wanted them to put the $12 a quart engine oil in if it needed any.

I was greeted by a Valet who was very polite and went over the entire car looking for damage prior to their service. She was very receptive and took extra attention to make sure that my request for NO WASH was carried out.

Next, I was greeted by a receptionist who got my SA to come to the front desk and pick me up. Every one of my concerns was properly documented and he then went to the car to take a look at my questions.

I was given directions to a brand-new customer lounge with phones, an internet-ready computer, coffee, t.v., new magazines. The lounge is connected to a very well stocked BMW boutique. They actually had things from the most recent cataloque. Of course, all the BMW-F1-Williams gear is gone!!

I was paged about 20 minutes later and asked to go over the speaker problem with the technician who REALLY WANTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. In trying to locate it, I think he probably tightened a loose fixture that remedied the rattle. Oil was perfectly fine and they topped off the washer fluid. Car was not washed as I asked.

Later, when I opened the trunk, I noticed he had left some very nice tools in the trunk. (Yes, I wanted to keep them, but I returned them to technician!!)

Then, the technician came out as I was getting my paperwork and went over things with me and wanted me to come back if anything changed.

I tried to tip the Valet for the great work, but she kindly refused to take a tip!

In all, this was quite possibly the best experience I have had in a service department in a long time.

Driving out there on nice country roads was great for the car, but Otto's really impressed me today!

Hopefully, this isn;t just for end of year points.

I strongly recommend their Service Department to anyone who can get there. My Sa's name is Frank.

The last time I looked the BMW suggested list price for the BMW part number synthetic oil was $4.60. I guess that M3 oil has special qualities.

I bought my car from Otto's and have had it serviced there. I've always received first class treatment.

Of course I also brought in a couple boxes of donuts

I've used Otto's exclusivley. The last time they even gave me a free loaner even though I didn't buy my car from them.

BTW, Frank is one the best SA's I've ever dealt with. He will listen and document everything word for word.

Although I've experienced some bad service at Otto's in the past it looks like they are definitly trying to improve.
