 September Z4 sales down 42.3%

September Z4 sales continue their downward decline with only 789 units sold this month, representing a 42.3% decrease from the 1,367 sold last September. For the YTD, sales have declined 27.3%.

For those of you who are interested, BMW NA increased the dealer incentive on the Z4 3.0i to a whopping $5,000 starting at the beginning of October, 2005.

Please note that I only report United States sales data.

It doesn't help when car & driver wraps up their long term test on a Z4 w/ SMG every editor says the car sucks with SMG. This stigma then applies to all models of the Z4.

Not Good.

The new Porsche Boxster Body style doesn't help either.

Makes you wonder if the Z4 coupe will become a reality?

BMW is just not marketing these cars the way they do with the 3 series and M series cars.

Even the top gear guys hate it.
On a different note, BMW restyled the 7 ( not very well I might add, front is now acceptable, rear got worse ) maybe a little refresher is due on the Z4 (particularly the front).

I love the Z4 Coupe profile and rear but the front still leaves me with the hives.
Keep in mind that I loved the Z3 M Coupe.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

It looks like they get one more shot at it with the upcoming January facelift. If they miss the target, they can bury it. $10K incentives won't be enough to make it sell.

My 2¢.

Didn't the MSRP of the Z4 increase as of Sept 1.

Taking that into account the incentive has basically stayed the same.

No?
