s54 ,s52,all the different #is that the different models,and what is the z3 roadster?anyone got a link or something.knowledge wanted.

E## is body code, as in E36, E46, etc. S## and M## are engine codes. M## for non-///M cars and S## for ///M cars. That's the quick and dirty.

E36/7 or E36/8 meaning a E36 body with the 7th variation = roadster and 8th variation = coupe.

Anybody ever wonder why non M engines have M designation and M engines have S designation? Seems like it should be other way around.
